About Me

I'm currently working full time, but am always looking for freelance opportunities

I am an award-winning Industrial Designer with over 8 years of proven experience.
I have a diverse history, working in corporate research, as a freelance designer, and in consulting firms. My work has been featured on Oprah, Martha Stewart, Good Housekeeping Magazine, Field and Stream Magazine, Sync Magazine, and has been awarded a 2009 Good Design Award, along with various domestic and international patents.

I know materials and manufacturing processes.
I've helped develop new tech for business-to-business markets, taken soft goods from prototype to final production, created CAD molding databases for release to overseas vendors, and even worked on the floor doing plastic injection molding and parts assembly.

I am an adept 3D modeler.

I use Rhino for 3D sketching and high-level surfacing, Solidworks for high-precision functional models, and tools like Hypershot and vRay to produce amazing visuals. My technical specialties include surface modeling, photoreal rendering, and material visualization.

I do product development.
I've lead design efforts on various multidisciplinary teams for 3M, in markets ranging from Environmental Health and Safety to Architectural Lighting. I've overseen hard goods line development in design consultancies and guided individual inventors through the steps to bring their ideas into tangible reality.

I know the user.
I find the unarticulated needs of all the stakeholders who come in contact with the product. I've created user profiles, developed content for focus panels, conducted worksite visits, produced prototypes for user testing and distilled data for qualitative and quantitative reports. I've taken on the role of user advocate from drafting Design Requirement Specs through the patent filing process.

Above all, I am a pragmatic Problem Solver.
I may take on roles like design researcher, graphic designer, CAD modeler, prototype builder, ergonomist, photographer, and more; but it's always as a means to solving problems.
I am not a stylist, I am an Industrial Designer that uses all the tools within reach to find the best solution!
